Introducing I Feel Like a Fairy

Hey everyone! Today I want to tell you about a brand-new blog I am very excited about! Please give a warm welcome to Mia Harden’s blog I Feel Like A Fairy!

I’ve had a chance to interview Mia and even got a sneak-peak of her blog before it was released on Tuesday. I love everything I’ve seen so far!

As far as the blog, it has such a warm and beautiful aesthetic. When you get on, it feels like you’ve stepped into a fairy world. Everything from the photos, the graphics, and even the font is beautiful.

But more important than the vibes is the content. Mia takes time to notice the beauty in the little things. So far, Mia has talked about springy subjects– music, books, and cleaning!

Mia has promised posts on music, books, finding joy in the little things, and much more. Interested yet? You can check it out for yourself here:

Want to get to know Mia a little better? Here is an exclusive peek at my interview with her!

Hello, Mia, to start off, tell us a bit about yourself: how long have you been writing? What are some of your favorite books? Anything else you’d like to share?

Hi there! I’ve been writing for a little over 12 years, which is. . . . crazy to say. Honestly, I’ve been writing for so long, I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t writing. I wrote my first book when I was five. It was just a little picture book inspired by Blue’s Clues, but I was hooked. I didn’t want to stop! Since then, I have written dozens of picture books, several short stories, a load of blog and newsletter articles, three novellas, and a whole novel! I’ve written stories for friends, poems for my parents, and started a lot of book ideas that never made it past the first chapter, haha.

My favorite book is Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. The story is so inspiring and I don’t know why, but it just brought the characters to life. It almost feels like the story happened right down the street from where I live. I think that’s lovely.

I also really enjoy the Unblemished Trilogy by Sara Ella. The storytelling is immaculate. Sara Ella handles plot twists in a way I have never seen. Definitely worth the read.

What inspired you to start this blog?

I work at a store located inside Walmart and when we’re not busy, I like to sit and watch the people out in Walmart. There’s always something interesting to see. Anyways, I was watching all these people that were flustered and in a hurry and impatient with everything around them and I thought, It’s so sad that the need to rush along has impacted our society so much. Everyone feels as if they need to be running ninety miles an hour. I’ve been making an effort to slow down and focus on the beauty of the small things, and it has greatly impacted my mental health in a positive way. After that fateful day at work, I decided to start a blog where I help other people see just how lovely our world is, through music, books, and other small things that you might not notice. This is something that’s important to me and a blog felt like the best way to get my voice out there.

What inspired the name I Feel Like a Fairy?

When I made a flower crown for the first time and put it on, the first thing that popped into my head was “I feel like a fairy.” Fast forward a few weeks to when I was designing a blog about focusing on the small things, and I realized that “I Feel Like a Fairy” is a very intriguing name that matches the theme perfectly. And I really do feel like a fairy when I make a conscious effort to see the beauty. I’m tall and awkward, but when I talk to the fat bumblebee that hangs out by the door and flies closer when I go outside, or when I run through a field of flowers with my puppy on my heels, I can’t help but feel as if I’m a fairy, nurturing nature and loving this earth. It’s a wonderful feeling and I want to spread it to all who read my blog.

Tell us a little bit about what we can expect on I Feel Like a Fairy.

The main “pillars” of the blog are books, music, and finding joy. You can expect to see posts about books that match a certain theme, music that fits a certain scenario, and ways that you can find joy in things that aren’t always the most fun. I also plan to post ideas for things to do each season, and maybe some crafty activities. AND, my email list subscribers will receive special content that won’t be seen on the blog, such as list poems, exclusive photography, and other lovely things!

For those of us who are interested, what is the best way to support your blog? How can we stay updated?

Subscribe to my email list! I post every Tuesday, so if you subscribe to the email list, you’ll be notified whenever a new post goes up. And, as I mentioned before, email list subscribers get special content every month that won’t be found on the blog.

Where can we find you online?

I have a second blog, called Windows, where I’m a little more unhinged. I post about whatever’s on my mind, whether that be what’s been going on in the month, music that I enjoy listening to, or other random chaos. It’s a fun time!

A huge thank you to Mia for taking the time to answer all my questions! I hope you will check out I Feel Like A Fairy and enjoy it as much as I have! 🙂
